COMPETITOR PROFILE
PATRICK JENKINS

Q: How long have you been juggling?
A: I've been juggling seriously for about a year and a half.

Q: Why did you learn how to juggle and why did you keep doing it?
A: I learned because I thought it was cool and I keep doing it because I like the fact that juggling is an individual sport and I can move at my own pace and it's very relaxing but frustrating at the same time.

Q: Why do you want to compete in the WJF competitions?
A: It's a chance to compete against some of the best jugglers in my age group.

Q: What are your goals in juggling, technically and professionally?
A: To just keep moving up in terms of skill. I haven't put much thought into professional juggling.

Q: What kind of training has been the most beneficial in progressing your juggling skills?
A: Practicing everyday. Even if you have a day where you only practice 30 minutes. Consistency in practicing is better than practicing one day a week for 5 hours.

Q: What has had the most influence on your juggling?
A: Watching other jugglers and trying to push my skills to the same level as other jugglers.

Q: Do you practice with any other jugglers?
A: I occasionally juggle with the UMD and UMBC juggling clubs.

Q: When did you start preparing for the Sponsorship Program competition?
A: As soon as I saw the video from the WJF I tried thinking of a routine that included hard moves.

Q: What did you think your chances were of winning?
A: I'm pretty sure I was the first person to post a video on youtube about the competition but then I heard Lauge was entering and didn't think I would win first. Then I saw Spencer's video a few days later and noticed that he had way more connections than I did and got nervous so I wasn't super surprised when I had tied for 3rd. I was excited.

See Patrick Jenkins compete in the 2008 WJF Overall Championship at WJF 5, December 17th - 23rd, 2008 at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
