BEGINNERS COMPETITION
This class is open to all ages and is for those who feel they are not qualified to compete in the Junior or Intermediate class. There is no prize money or air time on the line for the winners, the only prize is bragging rights and an ego boost. Balls, rings, and/or clubs may be used in this competition.
Minimum Requirements:
Move minimum is a three ball basic pattern. If a competitor has a difficult three object move they want to use, they may incorporate it within their routine. There is no minimum or maximum for total amount of moves. You're only restricted by the two minute time limit.
Maximums:
(To keep the competition fair)
• 3 clubs
No moves with four clubs or higher will be allowed
• 5 rings
No five ring moves or runs of six rings or higher are allowed
• 6 ball qualify
If a competitor can run six objects for a long time, they cannot enter the competition. Please be honest :)
Scoring System:
A panel of judges will make a subjective decision on competitor placement based on difficulty of moves, connections, and execution. Drops and other errors will be taken into account as well. There are no performance related points available in this competition. Errors that will reduce your chances of placing high consist of:
1. Collisions
2. Foot movement / bad form (shuffling steps/bad arm position in the minor cases, to walking around and excessive reaching in major cases. Each individual step
counts as a deduction.)
3. Bad Patterns (exceedingly uneven throw heights, or off timing will count as a single bad pattern block, not as five throws with a bad pattern)
4. Drops (Per drop event. If you drop every single object you're trying to juggle, there will be an additional penalty. So at least try to hold on to one of whatever you're
trying to juggle)
5. Loss of balance (falling, stumbling [counts as one stumble, not as five stumbling steps]
You may sign up before the event by emailing your intention to compete to info@thewjf.com.

MOVES
NO B - JURY!!!!
Competitors may attempt to accumulate points in the Ball, Ring, and Club
Compulsory Competitions. You do not have to attempt all the moves. You
only get points for the moves you attempt and successfully execute and you are only allowed ONE ATTEMPT per move. There are no deductions for drops, moving the feet, etc. Moves will be credited if the form is consistent
with the judges expectation of a successful execution of the move. For
example, if you attempt a 180, and walk halfway around while continuing to throw (and in the most extreme cases, making the last throw with your arm behind you after you've completed a 180 degree meandering) then you may not receive points for that move since the form was not demonstrative of proper technique. Proper technique is defined as the technique used which conserves the most energy while providing the most consistently successful and aesthetically pleasing results.
A list of the compulsory moves, their point values and the routine forms can be downloaded here:

2. Enter the corresponding number in the routine form's "move number" field.
3. Enter planned number of catches, minimum or maximum allowed if applicable.
4. Select if your move is connected to the previous move or not (option available starting with the second move of the routine)
5. Select if you're starting or continuing a connection chain
6. Continue for up to 15 total moves.
7. Email completed routine forms to Joe Showers and The WJF by August 1st, 2012
Connection Chains award more points if specific classes are connected together in a specific order.
The following information is good advice to consider when putting together your competition routine.
The best way to get a high scoring routine is to connect as many dissimilar moves together as possible which will increase your overall difficulty rating. Each individual move can be done a total of two times each, as long as one of the times is done in connection with another move. For example, you can do a 5 up 360 by itself, and then you can do a 5 up 360 connected to overhead throws and you'll get points for both 5 up 360s plus the connection to overhead throws. You can't do a 5 up 360, and then another 5 up 360 unless it's connected to the previous one or to another move. Connections contain ZERO basic or non connecting move throws in between moves and should connect two dissimilar moves. That's the rule for all connections. Moves that are connected to similar moves will not get a high difficulty rating or at all. Connections that are made from completely different patterns are generally valued higher. For example, connecting a shower pattern to a high low shower pattern would not score as a connection but a shower connected to a blind catch would. A 5 ball (6x,4) 5 up 360 that resumes (6x,4) is not a connection, but a (6x,4) 5 up 360 that goes directly into (6,4x) is a connection. The greater the difficulty and contrast in connected moves, the higher the difficulty rating. Keep in mind that if you do the same move two times, that also counts as two moves applied toward your total move limit.
Qualifying Moves
Most moves required qualification of the pattern either during or after the move. For example, a 360 must reenter a non multiplexed pattern for a qualifying run. A 5 up 360 requires 10 throws to be made after the 360 is completed, and those throws must all be caught. A site swap generally must qualify the pattern or establish a greater number of throws within the run of the site swap. Some easier site swaps must be repeated multiple times from each side to be qualified, and more difficult site swaps only need to be done once from one side. Short programs are limited to 5 balls, 5 rings and 5 clubs and most siteswaps will need to be repeated at least once.

ISOLATED ENDURANCE - Part of the Overall Championship
All competitors must wear the proper attire
The isolated endurance competitions are designed to test the competitors in their pattern stability. The competitors compete standing on top of chairs. 7 balls, 7 rings, 7 clubs and 5 club backcrosses are the four competitions that comprise the isolated endurance. 7 balls and 7 rings are done in one round where all the competitors start juggling at the same time. The competitor who juggles the longest without dropping or stopping wins 1st place. 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded provided that 2nd or 3rd place are not also last place. The definition of juggling in all WJF Endurance Competitions, unless otherwise noted, consists of a minimum of twice the number of catches as objects being juggled.
The 7 Club Isolated Endurance and 5 Club Backcross Isolated Endurance are all done individually giving each competitor 5 tries each and scored based upon the highest amount of catches. No more than 10 seconds may pass in between each attempt. Competitors may have up to two assistants helping them retrieve their clubs from the ground. There will be prelims for the isolated endurance competition which will be held on the first two days of the convention.

ENDURANCE - Part of the Overall Championship
All competitors must wear the proper attire
There are three different competitions in the Endurance Event. Balls, rings and clubs. The ball event starts at 9 balls/beanbags and ring event starts at eight rings. Seven clubs is the starting level for the club competition. Each competitor will be given 10 attempts in a row to get their best run in each event. No more than 10 seconds may pass in between attempts. The competitor with the most amount of catches with the highest number of objects in each category is the winner for that category provided they qualify the pattern. To be awarded 2nd or 3rd place, the competitors must at least qualify the pattern. The definition of qualifying the pattern (juggling) in all WJF Endurance Competitions, unless otherwise noted, consists of a minimum of twice the number of catches as objects being juggled.
360s - Part of the Overall Championship (never put in text as 360's. Pluralization does not require an apostrophe. Using an apostrophe denotes ownership or means "360 is" and the 360 in this situation does not own anything nor is it about to do anything. 360s means more than one 360.)
All competitors must wear the proper attire
There are four competitions in the 360s event:
3 Clubs
5 Clubs
5 Balls
5 Rings
Each competition gives the competitors one minute to get as many 360s as they can manage with all the objects in the air. Time starts when the first 360 turn is attempted. For 3 objects, all three must be in the air during the 360. For 5 objects, all 5 must be in the air. A 360 counts once all the objects are caught after the 360. The competitor may choose to qualify the pattern after the 360, or start another 360 and the previous 360 will count after the spin of the following 360 is executed regardless of whether a qualifying number of catches are made. In the event of a drop when attempting a subsequent 360, the competitor must either qualify the pattern or spin before dropping for the previous 360 to count. Competitors are free to try 720s or 1080s under all the objects, and each spin will count toward the final score. If time is called after the last 360 is attempted but before the objects are caught, the last 360 will count provided that the competitor makes the necessary remaining catches. The competitor who completes the most amount of 360s within their alloted time will be the winner for that competition. There will be prelims for the 360s competitions which will be held on the first two days of the convention.

FREESTYLE - Part of the Overall Championship
All competitors must wear the proper attire
The WJF Freestyle event gives the competitors a chance to try moves that may take more than one, two, or three tries to accomplish. Categories include:
5 Balls
6 Balls
7 Balls
5 Rings
6 Rings
7 Rings
5 Clubs
6 Clubs
7 Clubs
Each competitor will be allotted ten tries overall per category and alternate attempts with the other competitors in their round after every attempt. There are no penalties or deductions in this event. You only get credit for the moves the judges feel you executed successfully. The winner of each category will be determined by which move the judges feel was the most difficult and original. Moves are judged on the average of 75% difficulty, 25% originality. Competitors may try as many different moves as possible however only their highest scoring move will count. This is not an accumulative score. The competitor who executed the highest scoring move in each event, wins that event. There will be prelims for the freestyle competitions which will be held on the first two days of the convention.

POWER UPS - Part of the Overall Championship
The Power Up rounds award one full point to the competitor who executes the required move first and zero points for the other competitors. Power ups can be exchanged for an extra attempt in the endurance or freestyle competitions or an extra 5 seconds in a 360s competition. Competitors retain the point for each power up they win while also gaining a roll over advantage in the aforementioned events.
To add an additional element of paranoia, competitors will be given the option to do more difficult versions for additional points. Whichever version is executed first ends the competition. For example, in the 7 Ring 360 round, competitors may choose to either do a 5 up or 7 up 360. 1 point for the 5 up, 2 points for the 7 up. Go safe or go big. Either way, go and good luck. The Power Up are:
• 5 Ball Blind Catch - 1 Point
• 7 Ball DB97531 (Must reenter qualifying pattern) - 1 Point
• 5 Ring 5 Up 360 / 5 Up 180 Connection (Must reenter qualifying pattern) - 1 Point
• 5 Club 97531(Must reenter qualifying pattern) - 1 Point
OR
• 5 Club 97531 with the "1" passed behind the back (Must reenter qualifying pattern) - 2 Points
• 5 Club Backcrosses in Doubles for 20 Catches (Must reenter qualifying basic pattern) - 1 Point
• 3 Club Body Throw Endurance - 1 Point

3 CLUB ONE MINUTE FREESTYLE - Part of the Overall Championship
All competitors must wear the proper attire
Competitors will have one minute to execute as many of their most difficult and original 3 club moves and connections. Deductions will be given for drops only. The competitor with the most difficult and original moves and the fewest drops will most likely score the highest. There is no music required for this competition. Competitors do not need to submit routine forms for this competition. Prelims will be held on the first two days of the convention for this event.

7 CLUB INCENTIVE PROGRAM
New award for WJF 7 and WJF 8 - $250.00 for anyone 15 years old or younger who can juggle 7 clubs for 50 catches at the convention.
(Must schedule a specific time for attempts during WJF 8. Opportunities to win this award will be given in 30 minute time slots based on schedule availability. If more than one juggler is attempting to win this award, all competitors must start their first attempts at the same time. All competitors who achieve 50 catches will win the $250.00 award.
