for those of us currently attending WJF6, and also have internet access, share a summary of your day as you lull yourself to sleep with your laptop in your hotel room!

I just got home (Vegas local suckaaz!) from the first night of WJF6. I wanted to go to Pavel's ring workshop, but I missed it because I was too busy juggling rings... haha. I haven't juggled in a nice indoor space for quite some time, so I was happy to learn how to juggle rings again. I managed to qualify 7 after about 10 min... used to only take me about 3 min...

I checked out Falco's "beginning mess patterns" workshop, but I already knew all the basics I guess.. I am really looking forward to the complex mess workshop tomorrow! I will definitely learn a thing or two!

Met several new people! Re-connected with several old friends! Played a few games of HORSE with Chase! Got some great pointers on shoulder pads from Josh! Forgot to film anything... Busted out the flowerstick, just to show how much of a hippie I can be when I want to Wink

hmmmm... what else....

I'm already kinda exhausted... I better get some sleep!

Now I will post this rambling message without proofreading it, so if I spelled anything wrong, deal with it. muahahahhahaaaaa

Super stoked about the next 4 days of WJF6!!!!!!!!!!

-Steve

Alright!

Home from day 2...

Busy day...

Lots of fun...

Woke up late and missed most of Falco's workshop, oh well.

Started the day by learning a few new super cool factory variations from Chase!

Then lots of random ball juggling and wandering around socializing...

Played a few fun endurance games with Chase, DB, and Weston. I lost them all, haha.

Filmed a new video, me VS Chase in a game of "JUGGLE" with 5ball tricks! It will take a while to do the editing, but I think the video will turn out great!

Since filming is allowed in the gym now, I am making sure to get lots of great footage! I filmed Lauge do a 1hi4lo 720 into a long run of 97531, and a few other tricks, and filmed a bunch of other people doing gnarly stuff!

Got to meet Pavel! That dude sure knows how to juggle!

Got to meet Ben! That dude also sure knows how to juggle!

Went for burritos at Chipotle with Drew, Chase, Will, and (other guy whose name I forgot)

Tried to come up with a cool cane trick and couldn't.

Failed to practice clubs and rings as much as I'd like to since I have a great indoor practice space for the week. Too many exciting distractions.

Watched some of the prelims for the MLC competitions. 360 combat is so fun to watch! It's total chaos, and very entertaining! I like the idea for sumo combat too. That will be fun to watch those competitions later this week.

Learned my favorite new 5ball siteswaps from Chase!
8448641 and a few more that I can't remember at the moment...

Had a nice chat with Richard about video making, filming, editing, etc.etc.. followed by a fun ring juggling session where I qualified 5ring full reverse flat front thing like 10 times!! And qualified 7 rings within a few tries!

Ran 5clubs for 50 catches super clean on the first try of the day, right before I left for the night... I would never have been able to do that a few months ago. 5clubs is feeling great these days.

Realized that it was after midnight and I had been juggling for about 10 hours today and should get some sleep if I'm going to catch the early competitions tomorrow.

Still super excited about all the things to come in the next 3 days of WJF6!!

There's probably a lot more that happened today, but that's enough for now...

End of day 3 of WJF6!!!

About 4 hours of competitions today... beginners, intermediate, advanced, freestyle, and lots of endurance competitions.

Lots of people hit lots of sick tricks!!! I can't go too much into detail, but the most memorable for me were Doug's 6club backcrosses, David's crazy 7ball 360 in connection with 966 and 8x6 (i think?), Spencer's flawless club routine, Jon's backcrosses and 7club runs, Josh's 3club freestyle moves... ok I need to stop before this gets too long... but lots of people blew my mind!

At some point during the day, Jon told me that he finds 5club backcross doubles to be easier while standing on a chair, because that way he doesn't have to worry about moving around. He said that with a straight face, and I believe he meant it. That man owns backcrosses.

Saw Ben do a 5club 5up isolated 360. Yes, a 5up 360 while standing on a chair. He even made it look easy!

Had a nice chat with Ofek, and he taught me a couple cool diabolo tricks! I actually spent about 30 minutes with diabolo today, which is more than I've spent with diabolo... ever. Ofek was kind enough to let me film his rock solid 4 diabolo low, and 5 diabolo high, which he ran pretty much forever. Apparently there's only 2 people in the world that can do that.

Met a few more cool people...

Juggled a lot...

Never touched my rings all day... (shame on me)

Filmed a few other people doing crazy stuff!!

Filmed several side by side simultaneous siteswap mini-routines with Chase. We already have enough clips to make a video just of Chase and I doing side by side routines, and we're still going to film more later in the week! I end up hanging out with Chase a lot because we are probably the biggest 5b siteswap junkies at the convention.

I bought my very first WJF T-shirt!!! I always wanted one but never had the money... I shall wear it proudly!

Taught some more people some of my fancy 423 variations. Teaching is fun!

Still haven't done any passing at all... Hopefully I'll get to that in the next 2 days.

Decided not to go to the banquet on Sunday, mostly because I don't like Indian food, and partly because I don't want to spend the extra money.

Hmmm.... what else...

Well, I guess that's enough rambling for now.

Hopefully other people will post in this thread too.. I don't know how many people are (1) at WJF and (2) have internet access and (3) are reading this forum during the convention. Oh well, I guess this is just going to be the "Steve rambling about WJF6 convention" thread, hahahahaaaaaa Very Happy

Ok... food... shower... sleep...

and then...

Day 4 of WJF6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I'll bust out the rings tomorrow Smile

You gonna be at IJA in Sparks, E-man? I started working on 3 ring backcross shoulder-slide thing (or whatever it's called). I've qualified it a couple times now, but I was hoping to get some pointers from you.

wow... long day... I made it until 3:00AM this time...

The first event of the day was the Maximum Overdrive! Not a competition, but somewhat like the freestyle events where the jugglers try their most difficult moves. Lauge, Jon, Doug, Nathan, Pavel, and Noah blew all of our minds!! The highlight for me was watching Jon rock out with 3balls towards the end. As much as I love all the numbers and 360s, it gets a bit redundant and some fancy 3ball moves can be quite refreshing.

Then on to Major League Combat! Zombie combat, Kill the King, Sumo combat, and 360s combat.. I really enjoyed sumo and 360s. Really intense!

Went to lunch at Carl's Jr. with Doug, Ben, the other Ben, and Clarke. Six dollar western bacon cheeseburgers rock my socks off!

Met lots more people today! Had a chance to talk to Falco, got some great pointers about box variations, and he showed me a few crazy mess patterns.

I made sure to juggle rings today... Ran through most of my 5ring stuff and spent a fair amount of time practicing 6 and 7. Also did some ring passing with Richard for an hour or two. We had a few great runs of 8 and 10 rings, and we qualified 12!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VskoAAZI2Sw

Got some interesting tips and pointers about rings from Kaio (?totally don't know how to spell or pronounce his name?) who is a damn fine juggler.

Watched as Doug and Ben tried to break some ball passing records. They set a new world record for 15 balls with (I think) 27 catches, and 16 balls with 31 catches. The slow-mo playback on my camera helped to quickly verify the number of catches, so I felt useful. Also, it was nice to be present at the exact moment that a world record is verified!

Ben said he would flash 10 balls for my montage video. I watched him get 9 catches of 10 for about 45 minutes straight. He eventually got the flash, and it was oh so clean. Mad props to Ben for being so hardcore.

Had a midnight snack at the coffee shop with Richard. I highly recommend the supreme nachos at Kady's coffee shop.

hmmm... what else happened... I'm too tired to think straight...

tomorrow is the last day of WJF6! The Long program, and the battle for WJF presidency between Noah and Jason!

The final day of WJF6!

Today was the long program and the battle for WJF presidency between Noah and Jason. Also, Ofek performed a diabolo routine, and Falco did a mini-exhibition of his 3ball juggling!

I really enjoyed the long program. It was Doug, Josh, Pavel, David, Kaio(?), and Doug and Josh's team routine... maybe there was one more competitor that I'm forgetting, but I think that was it. As much as I love hardcore tech juggling, it was very refreshing to see a performance based competition on the WJF stage. All the routines were still highly technical though.

Doug and Josh are amazing. Their solo routines were awesome, and their team routine blew my mind! For those of you going to IJA, you will get to see it there.

And the battle between Noah and Jason... many people were curious what it would be like... those of us that saw the battle between Thomas and Jason at WJF5 sorta knew what to expect. It was a comedy show, and not at all a "serious" competition. I don't want to spoil all the good bits, but I will say I was very impressed with Jason's performance in the "speed balloon-animal making endurance contest" Jason and Noah put on a great show with a lot of laughs.

After the show, I sorta just milled around, socializing, trying not to juggle very much because I need to save my energy for the IJA fest this week. I spent a lot of time filming random people juggling in the gym, making sure I have enough good footage to make a killer montage video!

ummmm.... that's about it...

I'm sure a lot more exciting stuff happened today, but I'm too tired and exhausted to even think anymore...

Now it's time for sleep, and tomorrow a full day of resting and preparing for my journey to the IJA fest in Sparks which begins on Tuesday!

Extra special thanks to Jason for making all of this possible! The WJF events are such a great opportunity for jugglers from around the world to get together, and the WJF's shows and competitions are one of a kind. Thanks for all your hard work Jason!
