WJF iPhone App Contest - $500.00 Grand Prize

I want everyone to carry the WJF in their pocket. Instant access to the WJF Store, news updates, competition and event information, exclusive video and anything else you can think of that you would want immediate access to wherever you go. Do you know how to develop iphone applications? Do you like juggling? Do you like the WJF? Do you like $500.00? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, you may want to consider entering the WJF iphone application contest. Here's the guidelines to enter:

1. You must submit proof that you can create applications for the iphone (either with an application you've already created or by submitting a mock up of your WJF application idea that works on the iphone or iphone simulator)
2. Applications must incorporate the WJF Store website (and a way to order products through the application) the WJF website (www.thewjf.com), the WJF Facebook, twitter, and youtube pages, WJF news and email updates, and past WJF event content. Pictures and videos are highly encouraged.
3. Submit your idea as comprehensively as possible. Either in a mock up application with templates, or as a series of images to show the menu, pages and functionality of the application.
4. The winner will be chosen based on the best layout, design, intuitiveness, most inviting look, and fun factor criteria.

Deadline for submissions is July 1st, 2010. The winner will be announced by July 5th, 2010. Prize money will be paid after the application is completed and delivered.

Major League Combat Team Submissions

After our last MLC demo at the Congress of Jugglers event in Washington D.C., I'm am extremely excited about the tournament we'll be holding at WJF 6. The crowd really got into it and THAT is what we're going for. We have the game format. We have the venue. The rest is up to you. Get your teams together and start your hardcore combat training. I want to see some serious combat skills that'll make the audience stand on their feet and yell for you! Check out the footage from the Congress of Jugglers demo here:

I believe this will bring in a new era of juggling to the masses. THIS is what will get more people interested in learning how to juggle. And this is what will sell out Madison Square Garden. As long as we also include some wrestlers and monster trucks.

Please email me back asap and let me know the names of everyone on your team. Even if you've already told me. We need final confirmation at this point to start planning the tournament. Remember, teams must be made up of five players. If you don't have a team but you would like to play, please let me know and we'll do our best to put you on a team. When you submit your team names or interest in being on a team, please include the following information:

Name:
Age:
City currently residing:
Total number of clubs you can juggle:

This is going to be an awesome competition show. Plan your strategies now and email us if you have any additional questions. I hope to hear from you soon! If you're interested in being a referee, we could use your help too so please let us know.

Battle for the WJF Presidency Contender Announced!
No Resignation Match

In 2008, Jason Garfield attempted to defend his Presidency against a German named Thomas Dietz. Jason failed, and Thomas Dietz became the WJF President. For about 5 minutes. Thomas resigned after returning home because he didn't have the time to fulfill the details in the contract that he wrote up and signed. In our final show of WJF 6, Jason Garfield will defend his presidency against a new challenger. Noah Malone will take on the WJF President in a no resignation match series of competitions that will challenge their strength, intelligence, creativity, concentration, agility, dexterity...oh yes, and juggling ability. This show will also feature other performances such as Josh Horton and Doug Sayers' team competition routine. See it at WJF 6 first! Falco Sheffler and Pavel Evsukevich will also perform along with a few surprise performers. This will be a highly dramatic, past paced, and energetic variety show - the finale of our event. The audience will play a vital role in several of the competitions so make sure to line up early to get in on the action first hand. The winner of the Battle for the WJF Presidency will be named WJF President for 2010 / 2011.

Beginner Juggling Workshop Station at WJF 6

We plan on having an extremely high number of beginning jugglers from Las Vegas in attendance. They will be interested in learning how to juggle three balls. I will be teaching several beginner workshops in addition to the intermediate workshops but I'd like to have an ongoing station for beginner lessons so I will need some help. If anyone is interested in helping to teach at a beginning juggling station, please let me know and I'll put together a schedule for this station. Let me know how much time you'd like to teach for and how many days you'd like to be on the schedule.

Any Trick You Want to Learn Workshop at WJF 6 - Limit 20 students (10 per workshop)

I will be leading this workshop on any trick you want to learn but due to time restraints I can only accept 10 people per workshop. I'll be doing it twice during the convention so there will be space for 20 people total. The workshop is included in the cost of the convention package so you just need to be the first 20 people to email me and let me know you want to take the workshop and I'll reserve your spot and let you know which day you'll be taking the workshop. Make sure to include what you want to learn in your email so that I can confirm it's something I'm qualified to teach. Be prepared to work on exercises. For example, if you say you want to learn 5 club backcrosses and I see problems with your 3 club backcrosses, I will work on your 3 club backcrosses because that will be the step you're ready to work on before you move on to more difficult steps (Such as 4 and 5 club exercises). Email your request to attend the workshop to info@thewjf.com

WJF 6 rates increase on June 1st, 2010 - then again on July 1st! Register Now!!!

WJF 6 registration numbers are currently at 87, not including comps. Comps brings the number up to a little over 100. We have a great group of previous and new WJF attendees. These numbers are very encouraging with over a month to go but we still need to fill some more rooms at the Riviera to avoid penalties so when you register, please take advantage of the $49/night room rates at the Riviera.

The promotion of this event is getting a lot of people very excited. We even added a dinosaur to our latest promo video. A dinosaur! How many other juggling events can include a dinosaur into their promo and not use it as a metaphor? Our dinosaur traveled through time, where the sands of the desert meet the high-tech colorful and reflective realm of the World Juggling Federation.

On a personal note...

I've done just about everything I can think of to make WJF 6 the most cost efficient and beneficial juggling event it can be. Starting at just $100.00 for convention packages, not requiring an additional fee for membership, getting a $49/night rate at the hotel, and including six full shows, free workshops from myself, Pavel Evsukevich and Falco Sheffler, and holding it in the most popular city in Nevada - Las Vegas. A city you can fly to directly! It looks like attendance will be very good, not including all the new jugglers we're already attracting from the Las Vegas area. I've been working on WJF 6 non-stop for the past few months now, with another month and a half to go. I'm getting very excited about it and am putting all my energy into planning out everything. I'm limited only by funding. As you can see, even on a very low budget I can still include a dinosaur in the promo videos.

But seriously (Not that dinosaurs aren't serious), I could really use some help. If you support what I'm working on, it would help tremendously if you would attend and stay in the hotel for as many days as you can stand Vegas. Convention expenses are going to be due soon, so the more people that sign up by the end of this month, the easier this will be for me and the more I'll be able to do. If you can't make it but would still like to support the convention, donations are always welcome and would really help in raising the prize money and production quality.

Support

I hope those of you who haven't registered yet or are undecided will sign up before June 1st and help us meet our hotel obligation. If you'd like to stay in Las Vegas for one, two or three extra days, you can still get the $49/night rate if you purchase your registration through the WJF website. This convention will be very different from our previous conventions so if you've been to a WJF event before and think you've seen everything we have to offer, you haven't!

See you all soon!
